Antebellum Classroom Charleston

City Film Productions wants the experience of learning about Charleston ‘s history to be exciting and attention grabbing for middle and high school students. The documentary’s online interactive guide is the perfect marriage between education and technology. The design and use of the learning plan also keeps in mind students with learning disabilities as well as those learning English. General history enthusiasts will benefit from the site as well.

Charleston – The Soul of a City’s Online Interactive Guide will include lesson plans as well as activity ideas that include an extensive list of resources to help students delve even more into the rich and full history of Charleston, South Carolina.

Exciting visuals, video, interactive maps and copies of journals dating back to the 1700’s makes the Interactive portion of the film profoundly motivating and captivates the attention of on-line learners. Throughout the lesson plan students will also find a unique search interface with the Library of Congress and a host of archival sites. Designed by 18 history teachers throughout the state, the film and it’s interactive program will be accessible to each of the 87 school systems through South Carolina. Click to Review a lesson plan. If you are a history or social studies teacher in the South Carolina School system interested in participating in the design of this program please contact us for consideration.

"Reveling in the most marvelously fascinating environment - scenically, architecturally, historically, & climatically - that I’ve ever encountered in my life! I can’t begin to convey any idea of it except by exclamation points-I’d move here in a second if my sentimental attachment to New England were less strong. Will stay here as long as my cash hold out, even if I have to cut all the rest of my contemplated trip.”
